Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Peak State Global (we, us, our) handles personal information in connection with Publish, a claim-provenance writing editor (the Service). We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What we collect

  • Account information. When authentication is enabled, your email address and basic profile from your Google sign-in, plus session identifiers.
  • Your content. The writing, claims, evidence and provenance records, references, feedback, editorial notes, and mind maps you create, upload, or import — stored as Markdown and structured sidecar files in the repository you connect.
  • Technical data. Log and usage information and anonymised performance metrics generated as you use the Service.
  • Cookies and local storage. A session cookie to keep you signed in, and a local preference (such as your light/dark theme). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you (when you sign in, write, upload, or import), automatically as you use the Service (technical and usage data), and through the services you authorise us to connect on your behalf (such as the repository where your content is stored).

3. How we use it

We use personal information to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain the Service — editing, claim analysis, and publishing;
  • authenticate you and control access;
  • generate claim analysis, tiers, suggestions, and other outputs you request;
  • secure the Service and investigate misuse; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. AI processing

Some features send portions of your content — for example the sentences being analysed, the surrounding claims, and a digest of related sources — to third-party artificial-intelligence providers to produce the result you asked for (such as claim analysis or mind-map suggestions). This data is sent only to generate that result. We use providers whose terms state that they do not use data submitted through their API to train their models, and we do not authorise such use.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to run the Service, in each case with providers bound to use it only to provide their service to us:

  • Identity and authentication — to sign you in and manage your session;
  • Repository and content hosting — where your writing and sidecar files are stored and version-controlled;
  • Application hosting and performance monitoring — to serve the app and measure its performance; and
  • AI processing providers — as described in clause 4.

We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, or as part of a genuine business sale or transfer (in which case it stays subject to protections consistent with this policy).

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs (APP 8).

7. Security

We protect personal information with measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and server-side validation of every session. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme and notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required.

8. Retention and deletion

We retain personal information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, then for as long as required to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. You can ask us to delete your personal information (see clause 9), subject to those legal retention needs. Note that your content is version-controlled: disconnecting or deleting a source does not remove copies already committed to the repository's history or held in backups.

9. Access, correction, and portability

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, or a copy of it, by emailing contact@peakstate.global (APP 12 and APP 13). We may need to verify your identity first.

10. Complaints

If you have a privacy concern, contact us first at contact@peakstate.global and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

11. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when published here; the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
